The focus right now is on Chinese prodigy Hou Yifan who has a perfect 4/4 score. Many blogs and news websites carried the headlines that Hou Yifan is leading including Susan Polgar’s blog. Let’s not forget the other current joint leader, GM Nguyen Anh Dung who has also won all his game thus far.
Nguyen Anh Dung performance in recent years has been lack lustre as can be seen from his falling ELO rating. His highest rating was 6 years ago at 2567. His current rating is 2464 placing him as 11th seed in the KL Open. A good indication of his improving form is Anh Dung’s recent good performance the highly competitive Vietnamese championship which finished last week. He finished second after losing a 2 game playoff vs eventual champion Le Quang Liem (1½-½).
Here is a game of Anh Dung from the KL Open 2010 taken from Round 2:-
